Ange Postecoglou would be wise to keep an eye on Dexter Oliver at Tottenham.

It hasn’t been the greatest season for Spurs’ Under-18s in terms of results.

Although they sit third in the Under-18 Premier League South, Stuart Lewis’ side are eight points off top spot and have only won once more than they have lost in the league this season.

However, despite their overall inconsistency as a team, some bright talents have emerged from within the Under-18 setup this year, including Lucá Williams-Barnett, who has been compared to Mikey Moore, and Junai Byfield, who recently trained with Ange Postecoglou’s first team [via Lilywhite Rose, 16 November].

And it appears as though the Australian already has another talent to keep a close eye on in the form of Oliver.

Spurs’ Under-18s were recently knocked out of the Premier League Cup.

Lewis’ side knew that only three points would do away to Leicester City’s Under-18s, and despite claiming a 2-0 victory over the Foxes on Saturday [23 November], other results went against Spurs.

However, there was still plenty to be proud of as a young Under-18s side claimed victory in the East Midlands, with Oliver stealing the headlines by scoring a brace.

And his second goal of the afternoon was described as “a stunning left-foot shot, straight into the top-left corner” by Spurs’ official website [23 November].

Therefore, it seems as though Postecoglou might soon have another Under-18 player to keep an eye on.

If Oliver continues to perform in this manner and take some confidence from his brace against Leicester, he could soon find himself on Postecoglou’s first-team radar, with the Spurs boss having already proven he isn’t opposed to giving young talent a fair opportunity if they are deserving of it.
