Ange Postecoglou should take a closer look at Tottenham Under-21 star Jaden Williams.
It has been an incredible year for some of Spurs’ youth stars at Hotspur Way.
The likes of Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear seem to be a regular part of the first-team squad, with the former coming on during the 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday (29 September).
In addition, some of the club’s other talented youngsters are making an impression on loan, such as George Abbott, who could be recalled in January as a result of his success with Notts County.
Therefore, it seems as though Postecoglou is already spoiled for choice when it comes to young talent to promote from within. However, the Australian looks to now have yet another exciting Under-21 player on his radar after what Williams did on Tuesday (1 October).
Wayne Burnett’s side were involved in a 5-5 thriller with Dagenham & Redbridge at the Chigwell Construction Stadium in Spurs’ inaugural match of the brand-new National League Cup.
Trailing 4-1 at half-time, the North London side turned things around to draw 5-5 before winning the penalty shoot-out to earn an extra point in Group D.
And it was a comeback heavily inspired by Williams, as he scored twice and made another, with his first goal coming during the first half.

With Dagenham & Redbridge 2-0 up, Williams surged in behind and finished clinically to bring Spurs back into the game. However, the hosts added two more to give themselves a commanding lead at the break.
Spurs responded well in the second half, with Rio Kyerematen getting on the scoresheet before Williams set up Max Robson with a one-touch pass to make it 4-3. Dagenham & Redbridge then added a fifth, but Spurs once again rallied, with Williams adding his second of the match with a powerful finish in the 78th minute.
Yusuf Akhamrich then equalised for the visitors, and in truth, Williams himself could have had three or four, squandering various other chances throughout what was a dramatic match.
Nonetheless, he still made quite the impression, and now would be the time for Postecoglou to take a closer look at the forward.
Having recently celebrated his 20th birthday, a decision might soon need to be made on Williams’ future. Therefore, Postecoglou will want to see what he can do in a first-team setting, and including him in training or a UEFA Europa League tie could help him to do that.
In other Tottenham news, one big-name star could be axed in five changes against Ferencváros on Thursday 3 October.
