View: Ange surely concerned about 88% big-name Tottenham star after injury update today

Ange Postecoglou will no doubt be concerned about Son Heung-min after a fresh injury update on Wednesday (2 October).

Spurs made an incredibly slow start to the season, losing two of their first four Premier League matches.

However, the North London side have turned things around in recent weeks, winning their last four games on the bounce.

This includes a statement 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday (29 September), with Micky van de Ven receiving plaudits for his “outstanding” display at Old Trafford.

Therefore, Postecoglou will be keen to continue building this momentum over the following matches against Ferencváros at the Groupama Arena in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday (3 October), as well as against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday (6 October).

However, a recent injury update concerning Son threatens to derail the positive momentum the club is building.

Postecoglou confirmed via Spurs’ official website on Wednesday (2 October) that Son and Destiny Udogie have remained in London and are unavailable for the clash with Ferencváros. As a result, the Australian will surely be feeling concerned.

Son Heung-min unavailable for Tottenham v Ferencváros

Son picked up his injury in the 3-0 win over Qarabağ FK at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which ruled the South Korean out of the trip to Manchester United.

The Spurs captain demonstrated his importance against Qarabağ. Even though he wasn’t at his best, he still managed to complete 88 per cent of his passes, with one of those key, and create one big chance (Sofascore).

On his most recent Premier League outing, the 3-1 win over Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (21 September), Son provided two assists, played seven key passes and completed 85 per cent of his passes overall.

Postecoglou will hope he has enough quality in the side to get past Ferencváros. However, with a trip to Brighton to follow, he will surely be concerned about playing without Son, especially with Wilson Odobert also unavailable.

Therefore, he will be desperate to him back on the pitch as soon as possible.
