Ange Postecoglou could make five changes when Tottenham travel to Ferencváros in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday (3 October).

After a slow start to the season, Postecoglou’s side have come to life in quite some style.

They recorded arguably their biggest win of the Australian’s reign on Sunday (29 September), beating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

It was their second such win of the week after they got their Europa League campaign kicked off with a 3-0 victory over Qarabağ FK at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (26 September).

Therefore, Postecoglou will be keen to keep this momentum going when his side travel to Hungary for their second of three consecutive away matches.

However, with injury issues and a busy schedule in North London, some changes will need to be made.

Guglielmo Vicario will likely keep his place in goal after an “excellent” display at Old Trafford. As per Sofascore, the Itallian made two saves and completed 95 per cent of his passes.

At centre-back, Postecoglou is limited with Radu Drăgușin suspended after his red card last time out in the competition. As a result, he will likely have no choice but to start Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, with the latter shining at Old Trafford.

Archie Gray and Ben Davies will likely come in at right-back and left-back respectively, which will offer Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro a much-needed rest. Gray looked bright in his first competitive start for Tottenham last time out in the Europa League, playing two key passes and creating one big chance.

In midfield, Postecoglou could make three changes. James Maddison, who was involved in some controversy against United, could make way for Lucas Bergvall.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski could be handed a well-earned rest. The Swede shone at Old Trafford, scoring once, while playing nine key passes and creating three big chances. He is likely to make way for Pape Matar Sarr, while Yves Bissouma could start in place of Rodrigo Bentancur.

Ange Postecoglou to stick by Timo Werner in attack for Tottenham v Ferencváros

Brennan Johnson continued his bright run of form, scoring his fourth goal in as many games against Erik ten Hag’s side, while also hitting the woodwork and completing 82 per cent of his passes, with one of those key.

He could keep his place alongside Dominic Solanke, who has three goals in three matches, as Postecoglou looks to keep the Spurs duo firing.

On the left-hand side, Spurs were without Son Heung-min against United due to injury. As a result, Timo Werner was introduced in the South Korean’s place. However, he struggled at Old Trafford, missing two big chances while succeeding with just 40 per cent of his dribbles.

However, Postecoglou could choose to stand by Werner as he looks to play him into form considering the lack of depth Spurs currently have on the left-hand side, with Wilson Odobert also out injured.

In other Tottenham news, the club already have a Romero replacement lined up amid recent contract news.
