Dan Friedkin has shown he can be ruthless in his club ownership as he prepares to take over Everton with the sacking of Roma icon Daniele De Rossi from his managerial post.

And in the past few days, Ivan Juric’s dismissal after just 12 games has reinforced that Friedkin is not a man to tread lightly with as a manager.

According to Sky Sports Italy [13 November], 73-year-old Claudio Ranieri is close to being appointed as his successor by The Friedkin Group (TFG), who will soon join forces with Sean Dyche.

Dyche is experienced not to let external events bother him – any Everton manager would be under some degree of pressure with the chaotic nature of the club down the past few years – but Friedkin has shown he can make stern decisions.

This is not just regarding departures, either – many clubs will have turned away from Ranieri due to his age, which has not affected Friedkin and Roma.

They are willing to take on the elder statesmen of football management and can easily cite a record for Ranieri which includes the Premier League’s most miraculous-ever moment with Leicester City in 2016.

Dan Friedkin capable of making waves at Everton

Friedkin certainly isn’t shy. His dealings at Roma this season have emphasised that fact.

The Giallorossi currently sit 12th in Serie A and 20th in the Europa League table and two head coaches issued their marching orders.

Friedkin, like any successful businessperson, wants results as close to immediately as possible, and Everton could really use this approach after the way the club have navigated certain issues in the past.

The stern approach is likely to be embraced by an individual with the pedigree of Dyche, where a younger and more inexperienced coach could buckle.

But it also raises the stakes for Dyche and indicates that TFG will not be putting up with any remote threat to the club’s Premier League place.

If the multi-club ownership can be made work, Everton may benefit from a positive relationship with Roma in the longer-term.
