Everton star Beto was on the scoresheet for Guinea-Bissau against Mozambique on Tuesday, but Sean Dyche will be confused by his overall performance.
The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes and grabbed his first international goal albeit in a losing cause as his side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat on 19 November.
As Beto prepares to return to Finch Farm after the international break, he can take confidence from his goalscoring display against Mozambique, especially after he failed to impress in Guinea-Bissau’s draw with Eswatini on Friday [15 November].
However, his numbers in the game are a real head-scratcher.
Sean Dyche will be confused after what Beto did away from Everton
Despite Guinea-Bissau having 62 per cent possession, Beto was restricted to just 22 touches, the least by any outfield player to play 90 minutes [FotMob].
The former Udinese frontman played only seven passes, of which he completed four [57 per cent accuracy]. However, he managed to attempt five shots of which one found the back of the net and another was a big chance missed [40 per cent accuracy].
This means he had more shots than passes completed in the game.
He was hardly involved in any other aspect of the game. The Toffees man won just one of his four ground duels, but came out on top in three of his six such attempts in the air.
It appears Beto was deployed purely as a target man, with his goal being a header from a corner.
Nevertheless, there is not much Everton can take away from his performance against Mozambique and it would not be a surprise to see him leave the club in January [Tuttosport].
In other Everton news, a new Jarrad Branthwaite twist has emerged ahead of the January transfer window.
