Everton have been more active in the early stages of the summer transfer window than even the most optimistic of supporters would have expected.
Additions have been made across the entirety of Sean Dyche’s side this summer with Lyon defender Jake O’Brien the latest to make the move to Merseyside ahead of the new Premier League season.
On top of that, barring the sale of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa, the Blues have managed to keep their brightest talents such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jarrad Branthwaite at Goodison despite plenty of speculation.
However, the Toffees may have dropped a hint around the exit-linked striker’s future this summer as they launched their new away kit ahead of their pre-season clash with Coventry City.
Taking to X on Tuesday (30 July) the Blues shared a video that showed various first-team players from both the men’s and women’s first-team squads modelling the new black and yellow change strip.
From Dyche’s team, the likes of Dwight McNeil, James Garner and Beto all donned the new shirt, but there was no sign of Calvert-Lewin in any of the promotional material.
Will Dominic Calvert-Lewin exit Everton amid transfer rumours?
While some will argue this means very little as there were several players absent from the kit announcement video, Calvert-Lewin has been a staple of the Blues’ advertising over the last couple of seasons.
Last term, he appeared in the announcement for the Blues home shirt [Liverpool Echo, 29 June 2023] and alongside McNeil in the unveiling of the red and blue away kit [Liverpool Echo, 21 July 2023].
This partnered with Joe Thomas’ [29 July] admission that the Blues would find it difficult to reject a £20million offer for the England international this summer from a PSR and financial perspective could suggest Calvert-Lewin is closing in on an exit.
Although nothing appears to be imminent at this stage of the transfer window, it does feel more likely than not the 27-year-old won’t be an Everton player by the start of the season if he doesn’t pen a new deal at Goodison.
