The September international break couldn’t have really come at a worse time for Everton, their supporters or Sean Dyche.

While the Blues boss now has a couple of weeks to get his team on the grass and training, it also means the fans are left stewing on the Toffees’ bizarre 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth for an extended period.

The manner of the loss to the Cherries has left pundits and large sections of the fanbase frustrated, with some even going as far as to suggest there should be a change in the dugout after only three matches.

Will Everton sack Sean Dyche at Goodison Park?

Reports suggest that is also being considered within Goodison Park, with some Blues higher-ups believed to have already discussed Dyche’s future on Merseyside [TBR Football, 5 September].

One name who is known to be admired by the Goodison hierarchy is former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter.

While the Englishman’s record, barring his difficult spell at Stamford Bridge, is incredibly impressive, Everton may already know his stance on a potential move to Merseyside after what Darren Bent said recently.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (2 September, 18:10) Bent said: “That’s the problem. Who is going to go in there when they’re rock bottom of the table?

“Someone like Potter would he go there? I think Graham Potter would rather be out of work than go there.

“Graham Potter turned down Ajax, he’s not going there. They’re rock bottom of the table.”

Would Graham Potter move to Goodison Park?

While Bent is not exactly Potter’s career advisor, the talkSPORT pundit seems pretty adamant that the former Chelsea manager wouldn’t be at all interested in taking over from Dyche.

While his assumption is unfounded, it does seem as though the Englishman is holding out for the perfect job before getting back into management as he has rejected several enticing offers since leaving Stamford Bridge.

It seems unlikely that fighting against relegation at a financially hamstrung Everton would be the role to persuade him to get back into the game, but stranger things have happened.

On the face of it, however, it seems as though the Toffees have already been given their answer.
