Everton will need to speed up a deal to sign Barcelona striker Vitor Roque to beat rival teams to his signature before 30 August.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with the 19-year-old forward this summer, having tabled an offer worth a total of £25.7million, though Barcelona are demanding upwards of £30million [Que Deportes].

With just a few million separating Sean Dyche’s side from signing the Brazilian youngster, they must quickly secure the transfer before the summer window slams shut, especially after Fabrizio Romano’s latest update.

The Italian transfer specialist reported via his personal X account [20 August] that the next few hours are “crucial” for Roque, meeting with the Barcelona board to discuss his future.

It is understood that Sporting CP want to sign him on a permanent deal in excess of £25.6million, though this looks to be in the region of the Toffees’ most recent bid for the player.

Everton to speed up deal to sign Vitor Roque?

If the Merseyside club are to beat teams to the signing of Roque, they will need to start preparing a new transfer package to send to the La Liga club.

Goals have often been a concern at Goodison Park, especially with Dominic Calvert-Lewin either misfiring or suffering from a new injury during his time at the club.

Only Sheffield United hit the back of the net on fewer occasions in the Premier League last term, with Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure finishing the season as the highest scorers with seven each.

Dyche’s side has also not started the new season in the best style, losing 3-0 to Brighton at home on Saturday 17 August, with the only possible chance thwarted after Calvert-Lewin’s penalty claims were waved away.

Although it is extremely early in the season, the Toffees will not want to risk it, so a new move must be made for Roque, even despite his lack of game time in Spain since arriving from Athletico Paranaense.

In other Everton news, the Toffees must strike a deal to sign Habib Diarra after spectacular footage emerges.
