View: Everton squad upgrade surely on cards amid £200m stadium news

The Friedkin Group could be set to embark on a big transfer drive at Everton next summer should they secure a £200million stadium naming rights deal.

Everton will bid farewell to the historic Goodison Park at the end of the campaign before moving to Bramley-Moore Dock, and they could secure one of the biggest stadium naming rights deals in Europe [Dan Plumley].

However, any potential deal would be contingent on performance-related clauses such as securing their Premier League status.

If Sean Dyche can accomplish this feat, the Blues could be set for a massive transfer window next summer to kick-start the new era at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Friedkin Group could splash the cash at Everton next summer

Dan Friedkin is expected to make his mark on Everton as early as January, with the prospective owner set to be involved in the transfer plans for the winter transfer window with the side facing another relegation battle this year.

However, the bulk of the squad-building portion of his tenure will begin at the end of the current campaign, regardless of the club’s status, with Friedkin already ruling the rule on several of the club’s out-of-contract stars [TEAMtalk] including Michael Keane and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

While the Blues will continue their shrewd approach to the transfer market, targeting costless acquisitions such as the soon-to-be free agent Tariq Lamptey [Caught Offside] – there will be plenty of funds available for a complete squad overhaul with Friedkin arriving on Merseyside with “serious” money behind him.

Everton fans can now start to dream about what the squad will look like when the side takes to the pitch for the first time in the 2025-26 season.

However, question marks remain regarding which division the Blues will play their football in next term.

The 0-0 draw against West Ham United before the international break leaves the side two points clear of the relegation zone and, with clashes against Manchester United, Merseyside rivals Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City ahead, the Toffees will expected to remain there or thereabouts come the New Year.

For now, Everton must focus on retaining their Premier League status, but it will certainly go a long way in helping to appease the disgruntled fanbase, knowing major changes are on the horizon for the blue half of Merseyside.

And if this naming rights deal can be struck, that is an almighty sum of money that could well be used to completely transform this underperforming squad.
