Farhad Moshiri looks set to leave Everton without having a naming rights deal sorted for the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

In January 2020, Moshiri’s former business partner Alisher Usmanov agreed a deal that would see him name the Blues’ new 52,888-seater home.

The Russian-Uzbek billionaire paid £30million up front for exclusivity [The Guardian] before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 meant that he was sanctioned by the UK Government.

As reported on the Gov.UK website, Usmanov was hit with a travel ban and had all of his assets frozen, meaning Moshiri had to sever all ties and lose that naming rights deal for Bramley-Moore Dock.

It’s been over two years since that deal went down the drain and Moshiri – who has continued to run Everton into the ground both on and off the pitch – hasn’t been able to find a new agreement that would see the Toffees earn a lot of extra cash.

Even though a deal like this would help cure Everton’s PSR issues and allow Kevin Thelwell and whoever’s in charge to strengthen the squad, Moshiri has been twiddling his thumbs and doing nothing.

On 14 October, football finance expert Kieran Maguire reported that it’s possible that the naming rights of the Toffees’ new home could be worth a staggering £200million.

It’s a staggering sum of money for a team that’s had to scrimp and save over the last few years while also being hit by the Premier League with two separate points deductions.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News on 30 October, Dr Dan Plumley said that if Everton do get a 10-year deal worth £200million, “it would be one of the highest figures we’ve seen even across some of the European markets“.

As all Evertonians know, Dan Friedkin is set to buy the Merseyside club very soon.

Sky Sports News journalist Alan Myers revealed recently via his personal X account [21 November] that he’s been told the expectation is that it’ll be a done deal in mid-December, which is now just weeks away.

With the Blues just months away from playing their final game at Goodison Park before they move to Bramley-Moore Dock, it would be fantastic if Friedkin could instantly do what Moshiri couldn’t and secure the club one of the biggest naming rights deals in the whole of Europe.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche is under “extreme pressure” at Goodison Park after what he did on Thursday.
