The Friedkin Group appear to have an opportunity to replace Sean Dyche with Maurizio Sarri when their Everton takeover is complete.
The former Burnley man is under pressure with his sitting low down in the Premier League after winning just two of their opening 12 matches.
The Friedkin Group are understood to be long-term admirers of Sarri but could not appoint him at Roma as a result of his ties to fierce rivals Lazio.
The Italian admitted that he would be open to returning to England in an interview with the British Press on Saturday (30 November), so the Blues’ prospective new owners could get their man soon.
Everton should replace Sean Dyche with Maurizio Sarri
After the 0-0 draw against Brentford last Saturday (23 November), the Blues have won just seven league games since 23 December last year.
In 68 Premier League matches under the 53-year-old, the Toffees have kept 22 clean sheets. While this may seem a positive statistic, it feels like rather than use that as something to build on and win matches, his side are willing to settle for stalemates.
That has not changed this season. The Blues have kept four clean sheets in their last six matches but only scored in two of those games – a fact that concerns Dyche.
The future of the manager is one of the Friedkin Group’s top priorities when they complete their takeover, with a big decision to be made on his future.
His contract expires in the summer so there is not too much stopping them from replacing him with Sarri.
Given Sarri’s reputation for fast-paced attacking football, it makes sense for him to replace Dyche and make Everton exciting again.
