Nils Koppen could begin his spell as Rangers technical director on a positive note by signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea.

The 39-year-old was promoted from his role as director of recruitment in November, meaning he will oversee the Gers’ transfer strategy in January.

It will certainly be interesting to see which direction the Belgian goes down after the Light Blues proved their recent failings in this month’s AGM.

Koppen could begin his first window in charge of transfers at Ibrox with a bang if he can fend off interest to sign the Chelsea midfielder.

Nils Koppen could prove Rangers credentials with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall signing

The Govan club are one of many sides who are keen to sign the 26-year-old after a tough start to life at Stamford Bridge [Caught Offside].

Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also said to want the Englishman who looks set to be on the move this winter.

It is clear that there is high level interest in the central midfielder despite him making just 14 appearances for the Blues while having yet to make a Premier League start.

There is certainly a top player there after scoring 12 goals in his final season at Leicester City where the Foxes secured promotion from the Championship.

Regardless of a lack of game time this campaign, there is no doubt that Dewsbury-Hall would represent a coup and a real step up in quality for the Gers.

To be able to utilise the Community Shield winner in a midfield alongside the likes of Nico Raskin and Connor Barron, Philippe Clement’s side could be looking at pushing Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

It may be an unlikely deal from the outside but if Koppen can push a deal over the line, he can prove his credentials and why he earned the promotion to technical director at Ibrox.
