Ange Postecoglou can breathe a sigh of relief as the injury Cristian Romero picked up in the game between Tottenham and Aston Villa is “milder” than expected, according to Gaston Edul.
The Argentinian journalist reported via X on 5 November that the centre-back injured the ligaments in his right toe after hobbling off in Spurs’ 4-1 win over Villa on 3 November.
However, Romero has avoided a fracture to his bone and will only be sidelined for seven to ten days as opposed to six months, which was speculated.

Romero going off against Villa set off “alarm bells” in Argentina (TyC Sports), with the international break looming, and it would have undoubtedly been the same at Tottenham.
The 26-year-old was heavily involved against Villa, registering 49 touches – fourth-highest among teammates – before being forced in the 61st minute (FotMob).
He was also effective on the ball, completing 37 of his 39 passes with 95 per cent accuracy. 22 of them were forward passes, of which 50 per cent went into the final third.
Meanwhile, only Pape Matar Sarr and Radu Dragusin, who both played 90 minutes, completed more passes than him.
Furthermore, the Argentina international won seven of 13 duels and also made four interceptions, three recoveries and a tackle.
With Micky van de Ven already sidelined with a hamstring injury, Romero needed to avoid any serious issues.
Going by Edul’s update, he will only miss the UEFA Europa League trip to Galatasaray on Thursday (7 November) and the league clash with Ipswich on Sunday (10 November).
In other Tottenham news, Spurs have been credited with an interest in signing this forward also wanted by Villa and Newcastle.
