Rangers defender James Tavernier could be on his way out of the club as he posted images from the Maldives, 48 hours before the game against Motherwell, according to the Scottish Sun.

The 32-year-old has been linked with an exit in this transfer window and whether or not the images are recent, the timing is surely suspicious.

Gers players will not be allowed to go on vacation 5000 miles away during the season, especially after a game played this week and one coming up over the weekend.

James Tavernier’s Rangers career is over if he is in Maldives currently

If the English right-back is indeed in Maldives, there’s a very good chance he does not play at Ibrox ever again.

It could suggest that he has informed the club of his intention to leave and is now waiting for a transfer to materialise.

By training with the club, the 32-year-old would risk injury, which could jeopardise a potential transfer.

This is a common concern for players in the final year of their contract or those looking to secure a move to a new club.

Injuries can significantly reduce a player’s value and attractiveness to potential suitors.

Philippe Clement is yet to guarantee James Tavernier’s future

This move could also be a strategic decision to put pressure on Rangers to facilitate his departure, as his absence from training and matches could be seen as a statement of intent.

Philippe Clement has not said one way or another whether Tavernier is set to stay at Ibrox and had that decision been made, the Belgian would’ve come out and said it.

It could be that the club are waiting for the right offer to arrive which would then see things accelerating.

In other Rangers news, the club are locked in a transfer battle as they aim to bring an English striker to Ibrox on a free transfer.
