Rangers supporters displayed banners at Rugby Park criticising the boardroom at Ibrox during their 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock.

The Daily Record shared on 20 October two large banners could be seen in the packed-out Rugby Park away end, saying: “The mismanagement of Rangers – must stop and stop now.”

This banner was first displayed during the first half against Killie, and Philippe Clement’s side remained well off the pace before Marley Watkins pounced to score a late winner for the hosts.

Supporters slam Ibrox boardroom during Rangers v Kilmarnock

John Gilligan issued a statement in midweek to give fans an update on the off-field activities at Ibrox, but until real progress is seen, those will amount to nothing.

With vacancies aplenty in the Ibrox boardroom leaving several key roles unfulfilled, Gilligan and his colleagues can’t be surprised to see that the club’s faithful supporters are voicing their displeasure.

Supporters will feel that the uncertainty upstairs is now bleeding onto the pitch too, particularly after a passive display at Rugby Park which saw Clement’s side hit with a late sucker punch.

Gers fans have certainly been put through the wringer in the opening months of the season, being displaced from Ibrox itself until September due to the Copland Road Stand’s delayed redevelopment.

However, until there is a visible improvement both on and off the pitch, Clement, Gilligan and every other authority figure must be prepared to face the brunt of a disgruntled fanbase.

In other Rangers news, one Ibrox star was singled out on Sky Sports after what happened in the first half against Kilmarnock.
