Robert Vilahamn is continuing to make his mark at Tottenham Women.
The Swede enjoyed a positive debut season in North London, guiding Spurs to the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final as well as to a sixth-placed finish in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
He will be keen to continue his progress during the upcoming campaign, and to do that, he is continuing to build the Tottenham first-team squad in his image.
It was confirmed via the club’s official website on Sunday (1 September) that Hayley Raso had joined Tottenham, with several other players arriving this summer.
And the day before that, a major outgoing was confirmed via the club’s official website (31 August), with long-serving forward Rosella Ayane leaving the club on loan.
Rosella Ayane leaves Tottenham Women on loan
Ayane has joined Chicago Red Stars on loan until the end of December.
It is a move which demonstrates that Vilahamn is keen to continue re-shaping the Tottenham first-team.
Ayane has been with Spurs since July 2019. She joined ahead of the club’s debut season in the WSL and has gone on to make 105 appearances and score 12 goals in the colours of Tottenham.
Therefore, the decision to let a long-term player leave the club – even only temporarily – demonstrates that Tottenham are moving in a brand-new direction.
Ayane played just 10 matches in the WSL last season, failing to find the back of the net or provide an assist across those appearances.
As a result, this perhaps feels like the right time for the 28-year-old to move on, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her leave Spurs permanently soon.
In other Tottenham news, the club have struck a “unique agreement” after a £25million fee was agreed for a brand-new transfer.
