Sean Dyche could put his faith in Beto next season after the news that Dominic Calvert-Lewin wants to leave Everton this summer.

Graeme Bailey has reported (4 July) that the Englishman has turned down a new contract offer at Goodison Park and that he wants to join Newcastle United.

The HITC journalist has suggested that an exit is on the cards despite the Magpies deciding to pull out of talks with the Toffees last month [Luke Edwards, 24 June].

Beto could replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Everton

If Calvert-Lewin is to force through a move away from Goodison Park in this transfer window, there would be a need for a replacement option.

With finances at Everton being very public and uncertain, despite the potential new ownership of Dan Friedkin, they have to be careful with any transfer outlay.

This could see Dyche turn his attention to getting the most out of Beto who was only signed from Udinese for £25.75 million [Sky Sports] last summer.

The Portuguese forward did struggle massively at times in the Premier League which saw him afforded just nine starts and 939 league minutes [Fbref].

With that being said, Beto did show some of his qualities which could prove to be useful after a year of English football experience under his belt.

Everton striker Beto
Beto had a mixed first season at Everton in 2023/24.

The 26-year-old has a great work rate to defend from the front with 1.32 tackles per 90 across the last year [Fbref].

Beto also has some positive statistics going forward with 1.49 successful take-ons, 3.34 shot-creating actions and 0.53 non-penalty xG per 90.

Calvert-Lewin has never been prolific so if he is to leave then the Portuguese forward could prove himself as more than just a potential flop next season.

In other Everton news, the club have stepped up their interest in Jaden Philogene.
