Jarrad Branthwaite must remain at Everton despite interest from top six clubs in his services.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a key player in Sean Dyche’s defence in the last 18 months and the Blues cannot afford to lose the England star.

The Three Lions international is one of four options that Tottenham could pursue in the January transfer window, according to a report from the Mail on Sunday‘s print edition [page 89, 29 December].

The Blues must resist any potential offers for Branthwaite, even if they are above the £80million valuation that the club has placed on the young star.

Everton don’t need to sell Branthwaite

The Toffees do not need to sell star players after the Friedkin Group completed their takeover from Farhad Moshiri.

The shift in ownership and the move to the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium may persuade the player that the club is on an upward trajectory and he may sign a new contract as a result with his current deal expiring in 2027.

Even if Branthwaite makes it clear that he will not sign a new deal, a January move makes no sense for the Goodison Park club as they could attract the same fee next summer with multiple clubs interested in his services, likely sparking a bidding war.

Losing the one-cap England international would be disastrous for the Blues and would likely see them dragged right back into a brutal relegation battle that they are desperate to avoid.

Sean Dyche’s side is currently 15th in the Premier League table, just three points above the relegation zone albeit with a game in hand after the Merseyside derby was postponed earlier this month.

They have kept the most clean sheets in Europe’s top-five leagues since 1 October with seven clean sheets in that period despite facing the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle.

In other Everton news, Leeds United have been backed to make a stunning move for a Blues star.
