View: Tottenham should sell midfield ace after new development

Yves Bissouma was once regarded as a masterclass in the transfer window by Tottenham.

The midfielder was considered as one of the best in his position in the Premier League in his spell at Brighton and many observers thought the £25 million fee that Spurs paid was a bargain.

However, his stint in North London has been a disaster and Bissouma’s days at Tottenham could be numbered after it was revealed that the club could be “open” to selling the midfielder.

A report from Alasdair Gold [10 December] stated that the Lilywhites would accept an offer for the Mali international if it met their demands.

Bissouma wasted his potential at Tottenham

The Malian arrived at Spurs expecting to become a superstar after impressing at the Amex but he has been wildly inconsistent in his three seasons in N17.

His best spell came under Postecoglou last season when the Australian first arrived at the club but he has been very poor this campaign.

This was particularly evident in the 4-3 loss to Chelsea on Sunday (8 December) when the former Brighton man gave away a penalty for a wild lunge on Moises Caicedo to allow Cole Palmer to equalise.

The Lilywhites should move on from Bissouma as he has proved to be a liability on several occasions and is not producing at the level that Postecoglou needs him to.

If Rodrigo Bentancur was not banned, he would likely be behind the Uruguayan and Pape Matar Sarr in the pecking order.

It is time for Spurs to cut their losses, get rid of Bissouma and rebuild their engine room with a top-quality defensive midfielder.
