Tottenham Under-21s gem Will Lankshear is one of the most exciting academy products currently at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal.

While the 19-year-old has yet to be given his first-team debut, the manager’s eyes would have been firmly focused on Spurs’ EFL Trophy clash against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday 20 August.

Cancelling out Issac Hutchinson’s early opener, Lankshear struck a beautiful effort from outside the box, adding yet another outrageous goal to his tally, having notched 18 in 19 Premier League 2 games last season.

The two sides went on to play out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Memorial Stadium, with Wayne Burnett’s team eventually claiming the victory via a penalty shootout, but Postecoglou will be more fearful than anything else.

One of his star prodigies, Lankshear, was forced off the pitch, being replaced by Jaden Williams in the closing stages of the game [Official X account], suggesting an injury could have been sustained.

Tottenham fans would have been hoping that Lankshear would be given his first-team opportunity this season, especially after Mikey Moore’s introduction to Postecoglou’s squad last term.

The 17-year-old became Spurs’ youngest player to play in the Premier League, and although Lankshear is already 19, he has just as much potential.

However, after being forced off against the Gas on Tuesday, fans will be fearing the worst for the youngster. The striker proved his ability on the pitch before his injury, and Postecoglou will want to have that kind of player available to him as soon as possible.

The manager has a plethora of young talents to call upon this season, with Spurs set for a tough campaign competing in the Europa League, but an injury for Lankshear would be a monumental blow for the Australian.
