Wenham claims Leeds will still sign Tottenham man despite ‘Big Blow’

John Wenham believes Leeds United will still sign Tottenham defender Joe Rodon.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose described the Whites missing out on Premier League promotion as a “big blow”.

Rodon spent last season on loan at Elland Road where he impressed under Daniel Farke.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – claims the centre-back would already be a Leeds player had the Whites been promoted.

“I expect Leeds will make sales this summer and raise some money,” Wenham said.

“But it was a big blow, that transfer would have 100 per cent been done if Leeds had been promoted.

“I do still think Rodon will join Leeds, but it won’t be as straightforward as it could have been.

“It will rely on other players being sold first whereas I think the bid would have already gone in had they been promoted.”

Rodon has no future in North London.

Spurs have decided to extend his contract by a further year, rather than letting him go for free this summer (via Football London, 6 June).

That is something of a gamble by the club, as they must now hope that Rodon is signed permanently.

Otherwise, they will be paying the wages of a player who has no value to Ange Postecoglou.

Elland Road does seem the most likely destination for the 26-year-old.

Tottenham will just need to wait patiently for Leeds to make their move.
