Wenham compares Tottenham star to Harry Kane after what he did v Brentford

John Wenham has drawn comparison between Dominic Solanke and Harry Kane after what the Tottenham striker did against Brentford.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is confident that Solanke will score consistently under Ange Postecoglou.

Solanke grabbed his first goal in Spurs colours during the 3-1 Premier League win over Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (21 September).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News– has detailed how other parts of Solanke’s performance reminded him of Kane.

“I was impressed by Solanke,” Wenham said.

“He was holding up the ball, pressing from the front and winning free kicks in a way we haven’t seen a Tottenham striker do since Kane.

“Obviously, he got his goal as well, and I think he could have had another. I’ve seen enough to tell me that Solanke will score a lot of goals in this Spurs team.

“Therefore, now that he has that first one, I think it would be wise to start him in the UEFA Europa League. Hopefully, then he might be able to grab another couple ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.”

Solanke will never score as many goals as Kane did for Tottenham. He is also unlikely to ever be as loved in North London as the club’s record goalscorer.

However, that is not to say that he can’t become a huge success for Spurs.

He is the club’s most expensive signing of all time. Therefore, there will be a lot of pressure on him to perform, especially considering he didn’t make the best of starts to life at Tottenham.

However, now that he has that first goal, supporters will hope that he has turned a corner and can start to find the back of the net regularly in a Spurs shirt.
