John Wenham believes Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie looked “back to his best” against Brentford.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose was impressed by the Italian’s performance against the Bees.

Udogie started and played the full 90 minutes as Ange Postecoglou’s side recorded a 3-1 Premier League win over Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (21 September).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has singled out the 21-year-old’s display.

“I loved the performance from Spurs,” Wenham said.

“After Brentford got their early goal, I thought that we exerted complete domination on the match. James Maddison will get the plaudits because of the role that he plays.

“I thought he was good at Coventry also. However, there was another performance which I was impressed by.

“I thought Udogie was back to his best on the left-hand side. He was a constant problem throughout the match.”

Destiny Udogie back to his best for Tottenham against Brentford?

Udogie enjoyed a positive debut season at Tottenham, which no doubt saw his transfer value skyrocket. However, he was forced to spend the final weeks of the 2023/24 campaign on the sidelines due to injury.

As a result, he didn’t look his best during the opening weeks of the season as he aimed to regain match fitness. This is something which would have no doubt concerned Postecoglou.

However, if his performance against the Bees is anything to go by, it seems as though the defender might finally be returning to his best.

Udogie is the clear first-choice left-back in North London. Therefore, Postecoglou will be keen to see him push on over the next few weeks as Spurs aim to kickstart their season.

In other Tottenham news, a Guglielmo Vicario exit verdict has emerged after recent transfer speculation.
