Everton face five of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ in December and failure to pick up points could leave Sean Dyche facing the sack.
It has been a decidedly average start to the campaign for Everton under Dyche with the Toffees sitting 16th having won just two of their opening 10 games.
Things aren’t getting any easier in December for the underfire boss with encounters against Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all on the horizon.
West Ham and Brentford will be the opponents for Everton in their next two Premier League clashes and they are simply games they have to win before entering what the Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas has described as a “daunting December.”
Sean Dyche could lose his job at Everton before Christmas
It’s hard to imagine Dyche having too much leeway in the coming months despite a horrid run of fixtures. The Toffees look all but set for another relegation battle and if they can’t achieve victory when they face West Ham and Brentford, they will plunge even further down the table.
If Everton fail to take a good chunk of points from those two fixtures then the pressure will be really mounting on Dyche ahead of the nightmare spell before and after Christmas.
Fixtures against teams around them are going to be crucial, perhaps most for Dyche who will be under serious pressure to keep his post at Goodison Park if his side continues to showcase the frailties they have so far.
A defeat against Southampton in their last Premier League match was cause for serious concern and Dyche may well only have the next two games to save his job.
In other Everton news, Jamie Carragher has singled out Ashley Young in his analysis of the showdown against Southampton.
