'Almighty mess' - Tom English reacts as Rangers lose v Kilmarnock

Tom English insists Rangers are in an “Almighty mess” after crashing to a 1-0 defeat against Kilmarnock on Sunday 20 October.

Philippe Clement was left clueless as Marley Watkins took advantage of a disaster at the back to fire past Jack Butland in the final moments at Rugby Park.

The BBC journalist admitted that he is close to making Aberdeen favourites for second place in the Scottish Premiership, with a six-point gap now formed.

He wrote on X: “Pretty safe to say that Killie are back.

“Also pretty safe to say that Rangers are in an almighty mess. Getting close to saying that Aberdeen are favourites for second, but let’s wait for a few more ‘tests’.”

Rangers in a mess at Ibrox

The Bears were once again nowhere near top level, and it is becoming a real problem at Ibrox.

Clement has to use what he has been given, but the truth is that this squad is nowhere near good enough and never will be to take home consistent silverware.

Chris Sutton and others instantly lined up to take more digs at the club following the defeat, with fans now numb to this type of performance and result.

Souttar has been sensational in recent weeks for club and country, but this was an embarrassing blunder, a top-level professional defender letting the ball bounce behind him.

Watkins lapped up the chance with a scruffy finish, but that was all that it needed for Kilmarnock to take the three points and send Rangers packing.

The Bears have potentially been lucky that no club has really pushed behind them and Celtic in recent years, but now Aberdeen are doing just that, they are crumbling.
