John Wenham wants Tottenham to sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson in January.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose finds it “mind-blowing” that Ange Postecoglou’s side aren’t linked with the striker, especially considering their need for a player in that position, with speculation that Ivan Toney could join the club.

As reported by The Telegraph [26 November], Ferguson is available on loan this January. However, Tottenham weren’t one of the clubs credited with an interest.

And Wenham, who has previously called for Spurs to spend £50million on Ferguson, thinks the 20-year-old could be the perfect addition in North London.

“Teams such as Fulham and Leicester City are being credited with an interest in Ferguson,” Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.

“Therefore, I just find it mind-blowing that we wouldn’t be pushing at the front of the queue for his signature. He would be the perfect option up top and is a player with an incredibly high ceiling, and someone who has great ability on the ball.

“This isn’t a kid with one or two games under his belt, this is a player who scored a Premier League hattrick against Newcastle at the age of 18.”

Tottenham to try and sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson?

It is clear that Spurs need another striker as Richarlison’s injury frustrations continue.

Will Lankshear, who is still only 19 years old, is the only available cover for Dominic Solanke right now in the number nine position. Even when Richarlison does return, there is no guarantee that he will remain fit.

Therefore, with Spurs still in all four competitions, they must sign cover for Solanke in January.

And if Ferguson is available on loan, it could be a low-risk, high-reward transfer.

In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy is to send a big £40million message to Postecoglou.
