West Ham Exclusive: Big Kudus update tonight

Mohammed Kudus is now far more likely to leave West Ham this summer following Lucas Paqueta’s betting charge, sources have told Football Insider.

The London club had expected to secure an £85million fee for the Brazil international to provide extra funds for new manager Julen Lopetegui. 

Manchester City had held preliminary talks over a deal for Paqueta, 26, after coming close to signing him last year.

But Football Insider revealed on 31 May the move is now off as a result of the charges against the attacking midfielder for breaching the FA’s betting rules. 

Sources say Kudus, 23, could now be the mega-money summer sale at the London Stadium due to the uncertainty surrounding Paqueta’s situation.

There is believed to be a lot of interest from Premier League clubs in signing the Ghana international after he caught the eye in his immensely impressive first season at West Ham. 

The forward is under contract until 2028 following his £38.5million move from Ajax last summer.

Kudus has become a firm fans favourite at the London Stadium after registering 14 goals and six assists in 45 appearances last season.

The Ghanaian built up a strong partnership with Paqueta as West Ham reached the Europa League quarter-finals before being dumped out of the competition by Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider the Premier League side would be tested with bids for the attacking duo this summer.

But with Paqueta’s situation up in the air, Kudus is now likely to receive the majority of the attention as top clubs are pondering a potential move for him once the transfer window reopens.

Football Insider revealed last month any big-money fees the club receive this summer will go towards boosting their transfer kitty for potential new signings.
