West Ham United have been fairly busy on the transfer front in recent weeks, getting three new signings over the line.

Max Kilman, Wes Foderingham and Luis Guilherme have all signed for the Hammers this summer, and there could be more signings on the cards.

West Ham are said to be looking at more additions both in defence and in attack before the transfer window shuts.

Although Michail Antonio did well in the second half of the season, the Hammers relied too often on Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus for goals.

In recent days, West Ham have been linked with a £32million-rated striker who outscored some of the biggest names in Europe last season.

Now, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has shared what he knows about the situation.

West Ham keeping an eye on Alexander Sorloth situation

The player in question is Villarreal’s Alexander Sorloth, who enjoyed one of his best seasons last term.

His 23 goals in La Liga saw him finish as runner-up to Girona’s Artem Dobryk (24) in La Liga’s Golden Boot race.

Sheth, speaking on GiveMeSport, talked about West Ham’s interest in Sorloth and how he could potentially want another crack at the Premier League.

The Norway international’s time on Crystal Palace’s books – between 2018 and 2020 – saw him score just once in 20 appearances.

“Another name that’s emerged in the past 24 to 48 hours is the Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth,” said Sheth. “Who Premier League fans and Crystal Palace fans will remember, maybe not so fondly.

“He did come to Crystal Palace, but it didn’t work out for him at all. However, he’s since gone back into European football and performed quite well.

“He’s become a player that’s, you know, improved and maybe has unfinished business in the Premier League potentially.

“Would he want to go back to the Premier League, where it didn’t work out for him before, and prove a few people wrong? West Ham United are keeping an eye on his situation.”

Sorloth has a £32million release clause, and Villarreal won’t settle for anything less, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Sorloth eager to take inspiration from Robert Lewandowski

Sorloth scored 26 club goals in total last season, which was more than Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak (25) and Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham (23).

He scored as many as Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, a player who he admitted was an inspiration for him when the two were in the Bundesliga together.

“When I watch the Bayern games, I always try to have an eye on his movement in the box,” Sorloth, formerly of RB Leipzig, told the Bundesliga website in 2021.

“He’s really good at getting away from defenders. It’s not big movements, they’re small.

“Always like, he goes a little bit in front of the defender and then he goes to the back of him, so he doesn’t see him.

“Small stuff like that I try to notice and also do in my own game.”
