Alexis Mac Allister has hinted at a potential future away from Liverpool by revealing his ambition to play in La Liga.
Liverpool are having a near-perfect season under Arne Slot and a key factor of their success has been the use of their midfield.
Alexis Mac Allister is part of that and has shown his importance to the Reds ever since making the move to Anfield in the summer of 2023.
The Argentine has been central to Slot’s success and is more than happy at the club, but the midfielder has definitely not ruled out the possibility of moving elsewhere in the future.
Moving to Spain is something that has reportedly crept up on his radar, and amid Trent Alexander-Arnold’s links to Real Madrid, the Spanish division is proving to be the bane of every Liverpool fan at the moment.
Alexis Mac Allister could ‘definitely’ play in La Liga and sees it as a future ambition
You can’t deny Mac Allister has endured nothing but success so far in his Liverpool spell which would make a future departure to Spain a real blow.
Speaking to AS, the 25-year-old is keen on the prospect of one day featuring in the Spanish top flight but it doesn’t look like a short-term goal.
“It’s a country I like a lot and I’ve visited it several times, and, above all, because of the language and the culture, it’s very similar to Argentina. I would definitely like to play in Spain one day.
“But right now, I’m very comfortable at Liverpool and I don’t think about what might happen in the future.”
In terms of moving to Spain, Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Madrid, with Mac Allister seeing the England international as an integral part of Liverpool’s regime.
“Alexander-Arnold, for example, is fundamental, as was seen against Manchester City when he returned from injury. His quality is enormous.”
Alexis Mac Allister’s comparison to former La Liga player led to Liverpool move
As we know, Jurgen Klopp was the main instigator for Mac Allister’s move to Liverpool from Brighton & Hove Albion.
He installed him in a slightly more reserved role but it paid off in the long run with Slot using the Argentine in Liverpool’s midfield to full effect.

The move to Anfield all came about due to Klopp’s comparison of Mac Allister with Ilkay Gundogan, whom he had managed at Borussia Dortmund in the past.
Klopp believed that ultimately Mac Allister could become an important player for the Reds and the former Liverpool boss rarely misses when it comes to finding the perfect player.
Gundogan of course played in La Liga last season but opted for a return to Manchester City this campaign, with Mac Allister potentially following the same suit in the future if he sticks to his dream of playing in Spain.
