'I'll say this': Raheem Sterling's comments straight after he signed for Arsenal now look pretty ridiculous
He was so optimistic ????
Since he arrived at Arsenal on deadline day on loan from Chelsea, Raheem Sterling has played a total of 356 minutes in red.
Sterling has made 10 appearances for Arsenal in total scoring one goal and providing two assists – respectable numbers given he rarely starts.
However, given that Sterling is a four-time Premier League winner with bags of creative quality, his chances under Mikel Arteta have been pretty baffling.
Right now, Arsenal are struggling to create xG from open play, and yet Sterling played zero minutes against both Manchester United and Fulham last week.
Ian Wright has called for Sterling to improve recently, but the forward simply isn’t getting the chance to do so for Arsenal on the pitch, for one reason or another.
Raheem Sterling thought Arsenal were ‘perfect fit’ for him
That being said, Sterling’s comments after he initially signed for Arsenal don’t exactly marry to his experiences since.
In the video that announced Sterling’s arrival at Arsenal, the forward said that fans were about to ‘see the best’ of him, something that certainly hasn’t happened at the Emirates Stadium.
Sterling said: “People like to talk, don’t they? Well so do I. And i’ll say this – you’re about to see the best of me.”

The Chelsea loanee then added to those words in his first full interview as an Arsenal player, saying he thought Arsenal was a ‘perfect fit’ for him.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling, really exciting, I’m buzzing. It’s one [the move] where it was kind of left to late, but again it was one that I was hoping for.
“I think looking at everything, I’m just like this is the perfect fit for me – I’m sure happy that we got it over the line.
“Spoke with Edu and I think just, and I said, it’s just something you can see from the outside, you can see the real togetherness from Mikel’s time here, you can see the journey that the boys are on and the hunger, and I keep saying again, the togetherness, and it’s something I’m looking to be a part of.
“Really excited [for the next step in my career], there’s always challenges, this is another challenge and it’s one that I’m relishing to go and really go out there and do my thing.”
Arsenal could replace Raheem Sterling with Mohammed Kudus
Many associated with Arsenal are now calling for their side to make the most of the January transfer window to add further attacking talent.
Arteta has seemingly decided that Sterling isn’t the answer and supporters want to see a statement made by the club.
How feasible that is without Edu Gaspar around remains to be seen, but Arsenal are thought to be able to operate as normal.
To that end, Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Mohammed Kudus and his situation at West Ham United, who may be willing to sell their star forward to raise funds next month.
