Will Lankshear could leave Tottenham late in the January transfer window if the club sign a new striker in January, according to Alastair Gold.
The English under-20 international scored 25 goals in 26 matches for Spurs’ academy teams last season and has featured in the Premier League squad this season as a result.
The report from Football London claims that the 19-year-old is attracting interest from several unnamed clubs for either a permanent deal or a loan away from North London.
However, it also states that any potential deal will be difficult for the club to sanction without another addition due to their injury issues this season.
Tottenham ace Lankshear needs loan
The Lilywhites’ young star has featured just five times for the first-team so far this season with only two Premier League matches under his belt.
He has also featured just once in the Premier League 2 in a 45-minute cameo against Fulham under-21’s in September.
While he did score on his Europa League debut for the club in the 3-3 draw with Galatasaray, he was also sent off in the clash and his lack of appearances has been disappointing for supporters, the player and surely the club.
If Ange Postecoglou was not under such severe pressure in North London, he may have featured more but the Australian cannot risk anything that could get him sacked at the moment such as giving game time to an unproven 19-year-old.
The forward should be allowed to leave in a temporary deal because a lack of game time is not going to help his development, he should be playing regularly.
The promising talent would be best served by a loan deal to a Football League club at the moment, so he can continue his development with regular first-team football.
