'Won't get anywhere' - David Edgar slams Rangers star, likens him to Ibrox loanee

Heart and Hand’s David Edgar has slammed Rangers defender Robin Propper for his performances since joining the club.

Edgar has highlighted his lack of physicality and has compared him to Ben Davies, who often got bullied by players stronger than him.

Davies struggled since moving to Ibrox back in 2022 and is currently out on loan at Birmingham City.

Edgar wrote on X: “We won’t get anywhere with centre-halves who can be bullied. Saw it with Davies, seeing it with Propper.”

Robin Propper has to improve his performances if he wants to remain a first-team regular at Rangers

If Propper, someone who had doubts about a move to Ibrox, is to establish himself as a first-team regular at Ibrox, a significant upturn in his performances is imperative.

While it’s acknowledged that adjusting to a new league, team and style of play can take time, certain fundamental defensive attributes should be non-negotiable, especially for a player of Propper’s experience.

Edgar’s critique points to a concerning trend where Propper, like Davies before him, appears to lack the physical assertiveness required in the Scottish Premiership.

This is not just about acclimatisation; it’s about executing the basics effectively which include positioning, tackling, and aerial dominance, which are expected from any seasoned defender.

If the 31-year-old cannot adapt quickly to these demands, his place in the starting lineup will remain tenuous, potentially leading to him becoming another example of a player who couldn’t meet Gers’ standards rather than a solution to their defensive woes.
