'Worrying' - Ferguson thinks Rangers man wants out already after what he saw v St Johnstone

Derek Ferguson thinks Robin Propper’s body language in the first half of Rangers’ 1-0 win at St Johnstone is indicative of the fact he is already looking for a way out of the club.

The defender, who Ferguson points out has previously admitted he is finding the Scottish Premiership difficult, was hobbling with an injury early in the first half in Perth with the game goalless.

Propper’s predicament was described on BBC Sportsound by Ferguson, quoted by BBC Sport’s live text [1 December]. The former Gers player described first first-half showing as “worrying” and feels that he might already fancy a move despite only signing from FC Twente over the summer.

“Propper is struggling. He’s been pretty vocal over the last couple of weeks that he’s finding it tough in our league,” Ferguson said.

“He’s been asked the question early on. It’s quite worrying when you see him struggling as bad as that.

“Look at the body language – he’s looking for a way out already.”

Robin Propper struggling with consistency for Rangers

If Propper was not already aware, the pressure has arrived at his door in full force since his arrival from the Netherlands.

That is the natural expectation of playing in the Rangers shirt, especially with the poor season the club have so far endured.

However, the campaign remains recoverable both for Propper and his club, and the 31-year-old showed his capabilities in recent games against Nice and Dundee United.

With Nils Koppen having led the recruitment in the summer of a number of younger players to replace experienced heads, a lot of seniority was placed straight away on Propper upon his arrival in the dressing room.

Propper’s mentality here appears to have been doubted, but it is solely down to him to overcome the expectation to which many have failed down the years playing at Ibrox.
