'Wow': Didi Hamann thinks Arsenal forward can genuinely become 'one the best players in the world'

Premier League legend Didi Hamann has now claimed that one Arsenal player has the potential to become world class if he can tidy up his game.

Heading into the 2024/25 season, Mikel Arteta will have surely demanded significant improvements to his squad.

In truth, it was a bit of a surprise that Arsenal stood by and watched Juventus sign Douglas Luiz this summer – a player often linked with the club over the years.

Arsenal need a new midfielder, preferably a number six.

Despite already having one of the world’s best defensive midfielders in their squad in Declan Rice, Arteta has a different vision for the Englishman.

The Spaniard seems set on continuing to use Rice as an eight, therefore needing an upgrade on both Thomas Partey and Jorginho to sit behind him.

That being said, it seems as if talk of Arsenal signing a new striker has cooled after the club’s attempts to sign Benjamin Sesko were rendered unsuccessful last month.

And part of the reason for their decision, is the emergence of Kai Havertz.

Didi Hamann thinks Kai Havertz can become ‘one of the best’ if Arsenal are patient

After also starring for Germany so far at Euro 2024, it’s clear that Havertz will be Arteta’s starting striker next season.

Gabriel Jesus will be on the sidelines when needed, but the German has the keys – as Granit Xhaka once famously expressed.

That being said, Germany icon Hamann has now claimed that Havertz can become one of the leading strikers in world football.

Following his exploits at the Euros, Hamann said the Arsenal forward was already capable of ‘wow’ moments and only needed a little more refinement.

Shared by journalist Chris Wheatley on X, Hamann said: “I think Kai Havertz definitely has the potential to be one of the best players in the world if he can tidy up parts of his game.

“He’s capable of producing something where everybody goes, wow.

“That’s why you’ve got to give him a bit of leeway and peace.”

Bold comments, but that’s clearly the position of Arteta on Havertz’s potential too, who has relentlessly backed the forward since his first day at Arsenal.

And if Gabriel Martinelli is able to find his best form alongside the German for Arsenal next season, that too could too help Havertz reach the heights Hamann is describing.
