Kaveh Solhekol explains why whoever takes over at Everton cannot 'spend, spend, spend'

Kaveh Solhekol raised the example of Elon Musk as he shared the latest on the Everton takeover situation.

Everton are hopeful of having a new owner, or owners, in place soon after 777 Partners’ exclusivity agreement expired.

A number of names are in the frame, including mega-rich Michael Dell, but Solhekol explained whoever takes over cannot just splash out millions.

“Owners cannot now spend, spend, spend because of the profitability rules,” he said on Sky Sports News [7 June, 3:10pm].

“So if you’re a billionaire, you’re operating with one hand tied behind your back. It’s not a case if you’re a supporter thinking ‘I want a billionaire, I want Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Michael Dell to buy my club’.

“Even if they were to buy your club, they wouldn’t be able to spend millions and millions of pounds on it because of the FFP rules.”

Everton fans desperate to see back of Farhad Moshiri

Everton supporters are already fully aware of the PSR rules after seeing their club hit with two separate points deductions last season.

However, fans do not want someone who is going to spend a billion pound on new players – not right now, anyway.

They simply want rid of Farhad Moshiri, and for someone to come in who cares about the club and ensures it is properly managed.

Friday (7 June) brought exciting news as it emerged as many as five parties are interested in purchasing the club.

Everton John Textor
John Textor is one of those in the running to take over at Everton

Goodison News understands John Textor is one of those in the running but is not considered a frontrunner at this stage, as previously reported.

Whatever you make of the financial rules in place, Everton know what is and what is not possible once someone new enters Goodison Park.

Let’s just hope that the next update that emerges is of a deal finally being struck with Moshiri.

In other Everton news, Senegalese media have reacted to Idrissa Gueye’s display on international duty.
