Thomas Frank would likely have the ambition to leave Brentford and attempt to take Everton into the top half of the table, according to Andy Goldstein.
Speaking on talkSPORT with Darren Bent (16 October, 4:55pm), Goldstein said that Frank has shown the ability to have a transformative effect on a club like Brentford, and could do the same at Goodison Park.
Incumbent Toffees boss Sean Dyche is under pressure after a slow start which leaves his side five points and five places behind Brentford, but Goldstein argued Frank making the move would still be a step up.
He said: “You’d still leave Brentford to go to Everton – If you can take a club like Brentford into the Premier League, you can turn Everton into a top ten side.
“You’ve got ambition, right?”
Thomas Frank would be a headline hire for Dan Friedkin at Everton
Despite the Toffees’ poor start to the season, which started with four successive Premier League losses, Dyche does have credit in the bank after keeping the side up in difficult circumstances last year.
However, Dan Friedkin’s takeover is set to result in sweeping changes across the blue half of Merseyside, from squad to dugouts to boardroom [The Esk, 26 September], and this could soon see Dyche relieved of his duties.
The 53-year-old is out of contract at season’s end regardless, and this could pave the way for Friedkin to appoint an ambitious replacement in the form of Frank, coinciding with the club’s new stadium move.
Summer 2025 will certainly be one of upheaval – as could January – with Friedkin at the helm, and the American will be keen to hire a new manager who can represent the club’s new journey.
Jose Mourinho, who has been linked with a return to England [TBR Football, 12 October], represented that at Roma, and if the Toffees’ new owners want to reach the upper echelons of the table, they could do much worse than hiring Frank.
In other Everton news, concerns have been raised over the extent of one Toffees star’s latest injury after Sean Dyche’s comments.
