Ange Postecoglou will be keen to keep a close eye on Tottenham Under-18 striker Ellis Lehane.

It has been a positive year on the youth front in North London.

Several exciting young talents have progressed through the ranks at Hotspur Way, with Spurs’ Under-21s lifting the Premier League 2 title last season.

The likes of Mikey Moore, Will Lankshear and Tyrese Hall are already making waves at first-team level.

As a result, Postecoglou will likely be considering handing some of these young talents first-team minutes this season, especially with the UEFA Europa League to come.

That could open the door for more young players to push through at Hotspur Way as some of their senior teammates start to progress through the ranks and leave openings in their positions.

And one player who is already grabbing that opportunity is Lehane, who was on the scoresheet once again for Spurs’ Under-18s as they beat Fulham’s Under-18s 5-1 on Saturday (24 August).

Moore was the star of Spurs’ Under-18s team last season, often dominating the headlines at that level.

As a result, the 17-year-old has been featuring for Spurs’ Under-21s thus far this season, which has opened the door for a new player to stake their claim as the star man at Under-18 level.

And Lehane has so far made a strong case to be that star man. Following his brace against Crystal Palace’s Under-18s in a 6-4 victory for Tottenham on Saturday 17 August, the striker opened the scoring against Fulham.

Three goals in two games marks an excellent start to the campaign for the 17-year-old, who will be keen to continue making an impression as the season goes on.

Moore rose to prominence very quickly at Tottenham and Postecoglou would be wise to keep an eye on Lehane and see how he continues to progress.
