Bukayo Saka: Arsenal injury update ahead of Man City showdown - report

Arsenal are reportedly ‘confident’ Bukayo Saka will feature in their game against title rivals Man City on Sunday (September 22).

According to the Evening Standard, the extent of the 23-year-old’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared with the winger suffering from a cramp in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday (September 15).

Saka limped off the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch after signaling to be taken off in the 86th minute, being replaced by 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.

In his post-match press conference, Mikel Arteta told reporters, “I don’t know. I made two changes with the front players and suddenly he’s down.

“I don’t know exactly what it is but he could not continue.”

Just four games into the Premier League season, Arteta’s side are already facing an injury crisis with six players sidelined.

Captain Martin Odegaard joined new signings Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori in the physio’s room after picking up an injury while away with Norway.

Fringe players Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Kieran Tierney are also out.

Bukayo Saka could feature for Arsenal vs Man City

The England international has been on fire for his club in the early stages of the season, scoring once and providing four assists in their opening four Premier League games.

Both Arsenal and Man City remain unbeaten so far this season, with the North London side two points behind the current champions thanks to a 1-1 draw against Brighton on matchday three.

Next for the Gunners is a trip to Italian side Atalanta in their first Champions League game of the season on Thursday (September 19).

The club featured in the Champions League for the first time under Arteta last season, losing out to German giants Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
