Jack Grealish sends farewell message to Man City staff member as hearing begins

Man City star Jack Grealish has taken to social media to bid farewell to popular kit man Brandon Ashton after he announced his departure.

Described by ex-Captain Vincent Kompany as the ‘heart and soul’ of the dressing room on Amazon’s Man City: All or Nothing documentary, Aston will be leaving the club after 15 years.

The news comes as an independent commission prepares to asses the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League.

It is alleged that the current Champions breached the financial rules and regulations between 2009 – 2018, including secret payments made to ex-manager Roberto Mancini and the agent of Yaya Toure.

Man City strongly deny these claims.

Should the club be found guilty by the three-person commission, Pep Guardiola’s side could face points deductions or even expulsion from the league.

Even with the charges hanging over their head, Guardiola has managed to guide the Manchester club to an impressive four wins from their opening four games.

They’re one of five Premier League sides who remain unbeaten so far, beating Brentford 2-1 thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland on Saturday.

Grealish started the game against the West Londoners, marking the first time he’s started two Premier League games in a row since April.

The England international, among other Man City stars past and present, took to Instagram to show their soon-to-be ex-kit man some love.

Next up for City is a Champions League tie against Serie A champions Inter Milan on Wednesday (September 18), the first time the two clubs have played each other since City beat them in the final in 2023.

Guardiola’s side face another tough challenge after that, with second-place Arsenal making the trip to the Etihad in what could be an early title decider.
