Yves Bissouma ‘Problem’ emerges as Tottenham could sanction transfer

Tottenham could be open to selling Yves Bissouma in the summer transfer window, according to Alasdair Gold.

The journalist reports that the North Londoners would likely accept an offer for the midfielder next year if it meets their demands, and it seems the Mali international could be one of the players to leave.

While there have been calls for the 28-year-old to be sold, the former Brighton ace has leverage over his future with his contract expiring in 2026, which could be a “problem”.

Tottenham open to Yves Bissouma summer transfer

Bissouma has split Spurs’ fanbase over the years, and it looks like he could be playing his final games at the North London club.

The midfielder made his way to N17 in the summer of 2022 after an impressive spell at Brighton that caught the attention of many, but he has failed to fulfil his potential.

Under Antonio Conte, the 28-year-old struggled to replicate the heroics he had shown at the Amex, and it looked like Lilywhites had gotten it wrong in the transfer market.

Ange Postecoglou’s arrival at Tottenham changed Bissouma, though, and the midfielder thrived in the initial days of the Australian’s reign at the Lilywhites, but his recent displays have been below par.

Rodrigo Bentancur would be in the starting lineup over the Malian were it not for his suspension.

The 28-year-old’s inconsistency has been frustrating, and his errors in the 4-3 loss to Chelsea haven’t pleased the Spurs faithful.

Pape Matar Saar is another option Postecoglou can rely on, and considering his age, the 22-year-old could be part of the Lilywhites’ midfield for the foreseeable future.

Bissouma has shown that he can’t be trusted, and the North Londoners should use the funds they get from his potential sale to recruit a quality holding midfielder.

In other Tottenham news, John Wenham has urged the signing of a Premier League striker.
