Everton goalkeeper Harry Tyrer is set to seal a loan exit to join Blackpool, according to Alex Crook.

The talkSPORT journalist reported on 26 August that after an impressive loan spell at Chesterfield, the 22-year-old will now be moving to EFL League One side.

Tyrer has been at Goodison Park his entire career but is yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

Via X, Crook wrote: “Young EFC GK Harry Tyrer set to join BlackpoolFC on loan. Did well at Chesterfield last season.”

Tyrer, despite his potential, is not expected to challenge for the first-team spot imminently, given the presence of established goalkeepers like Jordan Pickford.

This means Everton would continue to invest in his development without immediate first-team benefits.

With the 22-year-old’s market value potentially increasing after successful loan spells, selling him could provide the club with much-needed funds for other squad improvements, especially considering the financial constraints clubs often face.

Moreover, the continuous loaning out of a player like Tyrer, who’s not yet ready for the Premier League, could hinder his integration into the first team when he might be ready, due to a lack of familiarity with the squad and the tactical setup.

Selling him could also open up opportunities for other young goalkeepers in the club’s academy, promoting competition and development within the ranks.
