£3.4m winger preference emerges as Rangers express interest to seal transfer - reports

Rangers target and Excelsior winger Couhaib Driouech fancies a move to PSV Eindhoven this summer, according to Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink.

The Dutch journalist, as quoted by Football Scotland on 27 June, claims that PSV will start negotiations next week and are yet to reach an agreement with Excelsior.

It was earlier understood that Gers would have to shell out over £1.7million to sign the Moroccan after they expressed an interest [FC Update, 27 June], but Foot Mercato reported on 28 June that he would actually cost £3.4million this summer.

Rangers must move on to other targets amid Couhaib Driouech valuation

Gers should consider moving on from Driouech and focus on other targets due to the high valuation and competition for the winger.

PSV Eindhoven and Sporting Lisbon appear to be at the front of the race for his signature and the 22-year-old himself prefers a move to PSV.

This makes a deal more difficult and expensive for the Ibrox outfit.

Additionally, Excelsior are looking for £3.4 million for Driouech, which is a significant investment for the Scottish giants.

Given the interest from multiple clubs and the player’s preference, it may be more prudent for them to explore other options.

The club already have Oscar Cortes, another left-sided attacker, and may look to tempt Abdallah Sima back to the club.

That’s why, it does not make sense to get into a bidding war with clubs significantly richer this summer.
