Dan Bardell has suggested that Rangers will be working quickly to avoid any logistical issues surrounding the Ibrox construction problems.

The Gers are being forced into playing their opening home games of the 24/25 season in a temporary location after issues at Ibrox [Chris Jack].

Work on the Copland Road Stand has been delayed and despite hope the SPFL would allow home games to be switched [Daily Record], it doesn’t look like this will be the case.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has assessed Rangers’ options and believes the hierarchy will want a quick solution for financial reasons.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “It is far from ideal. Obviously, they can’t just move over the road to another stadium because Parkhead is the only real option and that’ll be completely off the table.

Considering the size of Rangers with the number of fans and season ticket holders they will need a big ground. Murrayfield is probably the closest big ground but it isn’t exactly nearby.

It isn’t uncommon but it is a situation they would have wanted to avoid because I imagine Rangers will have to cover travel costs and compensate season ticket holders who would usually just have to go to Ibrox.

There are plenty of logistics which they will want to avoid and get sorted quickly to avoid financial burden.

Rangers to play home matches away from Ibrox

It is always a risk to do construction work so close to the beginning of a season and the Light Blues have now been burned by that risk.

The renovations are already underway and will need to be completed before matches can return to Ibrox as normal next season.

As a result, it seems unlikely that matches will be played at home to begin the season which could cause problems for all involved.

A move to Murrayfield appears to be the preferred choice given the capacity the rugby stadium can offer ahead of Champions League qualification.

For all the season ticket holders and general fans involved and affected by this, the distance to travel is much further than a usual journey.

It must be said that it looks like a move away from Ibrox is going to be necessary so the club hierarchy will have to come up with a solution that suits all parties as well as possible.
