Rangers received around £3million from the sale of Sam Lammers who sealed a permanent move to FC Twente, according to David Edgar.
Initially, it was thought that the 27-year-old had been sold for £4million, but the Heart and Hand host has issued a clarification.
Gers secured Lammers’ services for a reported £3.5million fee [BBC] so have made a loss on the Dutch attacker.
Via X, Edgar wrote: “Nah less than that mate, sorry. 3ish.”
Rangers should have made a profit from Sam Lammers’ sale
The sale of Lammers to FC Twente for around £3million represents a financial loss for Gers, who initially acquired him for £3.5million.
This deal is particularly disappointing given the 27-year-old’s impressive performance during his loan spell at FC Utrecht, where he emerged as one of the top scorers in the Eredivisie. H
is goal-scoring prowess in the Dutch league should have bolstered his value, making it reasonable for Rangers to expect a higher transfer fee.
Twente’s decision to sign Lammers based on his Eredivisie form indicates that his market value had risen.
However, Gers failed to capitalise on this opportunity and negotiate a deal that would have at least recouped their initial investment, if not made a profit.
This outcome highlights a missed chance for the Ibrox outfit to offset their financial loss and potentially reinvest the funds in strengthening their squad.
In other Rangers news, a club president has green-signalled the exit of a player as Gers have issued a “significant” bid to sign him.
