'A class above': Troy Deeney seriously impressed by 'excellent' Arsenal player against Southampton

Arsenal came from behind this weekend against Southampton to continue their excellent start to the season.

Mikel Arteta looked on as his side fought back from a tough looking position against the Saints to win comfortably in the end.

Goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli ensured another fine win and for the Arsenal attackers, it was the ideal way to go into the international break.

As we know, Arsenal are blessed with a number of top players in the final third and one of those, Bukayo Saka, really showed his class against Southampton.

And commenting on Saka for his latest team of the week, former Watford striker Troy Deeney has lauded the impact of the Arsenal man.

Troy Deeney says Bukayo Saka is a ‘class above’ for Arsenal right now

Picking Saka in his latest team of the week for the BBC, Deeney lauded the England winger and admitted that it’s becoming the norm for Saka to now contribute in the final third.

“He got two assists and a goal – that’s becoming a very normal weekend for Saka. Another excellent performance in a game that was a potential banana skin against Southampton,” Deeney said.

“He just looked a class above. Not only is it good for Arsenal but it’s also good news for England.”

Saka just gets better and better

Alan Shearer pointed out how Saka is so resilient on a weekly basis and that is just one element of his game that makes him such a top player.

Unbelievably, Saka seems to be getting better and better with each season.

Over the years, we’ve seen some top players emerge from different academies. But Saka has to be right up there among the very best to come through.

Still only 23, the frightening thing for the rest of the league and Europe is that Saka’s very best years are probably still ahead of him.
