Alan Myers: New consortium set to issue bid in weeks amid recent Everton takeover development

LA Dodgers General Manager Kevin Malone-headed consortium is set to submit a takeover bid for Everton in the coming weeks, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports news editor reported that following the news of the Friedkin Group, they will step back into the reckoning to purchase the Toffees.

They were one of many candidates to complete the takeover before Farhad Moshiri handed exclusivity to Dan Friedkin’s group.

Via X on 22 July, Myers wrote: “The consortium headed by American and former LA Dodgers General Manager Kevin Malone will make another bid to takeover Everton in the coming weeks following the news that the Friedkin group pulled out of a proposed purchase of the club.

“The consortium, which includes US investment firms was one of a number of groups looking to buy the club before Dan Friedkin was granted exclusivity by Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.”

Everton fans will have grown sick and tired of the takeover mess

Toffees fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the ongoing takeover saga at their beloved club.

The latest twist in this protracted saga came with the collapse of the Friedkin Group’s bid to acquire the club, just weeks after being granted exclusivity.

This follows a series of failed takeover attempts, including those by 777 Partners and MSP Sports Capital.

Each of these potential buyers have been unable to finalise a deal, leaving the club and its supporters in a state of uncertainty.

The situation has been further complicated by the financial troubles at Everton, which have seen the club record significant losses and face the threat of sanctions from the Premier League for breaching financial fair play rules.

A potential bid from the Malone-headed consortium offers a glimmer of hope for the fans.

However, given the history of failed takeover attempts, there is understandable scepticism among the fanbase.

The fans have been left in limbo, unable to plan for the future or anticipate the direction the club will take under new ownership.

In other Everton news, a player Pep Guardiola called “exceptional” last season is now the leading transfer target for the Toffees.
