Alexander Isak injury update confirmed before Everton v Newcastle

Alexander Isak is unlikely to feature for Newcastle against Everton at Goodison Park, Eddie Howe has confirmed.

The Blues will host Newcastle on Saturday 5 October after claiming their first Premier League win this season in the 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday [28 September].

Craig Hope shared the latest Newcastle injury news on his X account [30 October] with Isak fighting a race against time to be declared fit for the weekend.

He wrote: “Eddie Howe says it is likely Alexander Isak (toe) will be out until after the international break. Not ruled out of Everton (Saturday), but didn’t sound too hopeful.”

Everton face tough clash against Newcastle United

The Blues finally seem on course for an upward trajectory after a run-busting victory against Crystal Palace ending their five-match barren spell.

Sean Dyche flipped the script at Goodison Park as his side was on the right end of a deficit-turning result thanks to Dwight McNeil, who has been a standout performer amongst the chaos this season.

Everton have strung together consistent performances despite the results but now face the monumental task of recording two straight victories against a Newcastle side who have also endured mixed fortunes at the start of the season.

The Toffees are more than capable of pulling off a result, Dyche orchestrated a 3-0 win against the Magpies at Goodison Park last season and with Isak expected to miss out, the visitors will be lacking the firepower needed to breach the home side.

Jarrad Branthwaite has made an immediate impact upon his return to the first team and, the reunion with James Tarkowski in central defence will become pivotal in deciding the result on Saturday.

Everton were reliant on their defensive resilience to overcome their relegation woes last term, they must revert to this stance and thwart what will be a considerably weakened Newcastle attack.
