Aliya Capital Partners back Textor's Everton takeover bid - report

Aliya Captial Partners is backing John Textor’s bid to take over Everton from Farhad Moshiri, according to Bloomberg.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (13 September) that the Twitter backer and investment advisors offered its investors the opportunity to commit around £19million towards the American billionaire’s bid to acquire the Toffees.

As part of the transaction, Aliya will be given a co-chairman position at Goodison Park and one seat on the Blues’ board if and when Textor’s acquisition of Moshiri’s controlling stake is completed.

Aliya have given their investors the option of holding their shares in the Blues for the long term or converting them into stock in Textor’s Eagle Football Holdings LLC.

All of this has come as Textor seeks to secure the financing needed to push through the stages of his takeover on the blue half of Merseyside.

Will John Textor takeover Everton at Goodison Park?

Although there is still plenty of work to be done and loads of hoops to be jumped through before Textor can become the new owner of Everton, this latest development should only boost his chances of getting a deal over the line.

The Crystal Palace co-owner has to sell his shares at Selhurst Park before he can invest any money into Goodison Park, but having the backing of Aliya Capital Partners should only help his case in the long run.

The firm was a major investor when Elon Musk acquired Twitter which would suggest that they have access to some serious wealth. On the face of it, it appears as though Textor is getting his ducks in a row to get this deal concluded as soon as possible.

Whether or not he will be able to get a deal over the line remains unclear, but the American has shown nothing but complete confidence so far and that is unlikely to change in the coming weeks and months.
