Amad Diallo sends message after bust-up with Rasmus Hojlund

Man United ace Amad Diallo was delighted to secure a “difficult” win in their 2-1 Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen on Thursday (December 12) after an on-field bust-up with Rasmus Hojlund.

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Czechia, his fourth in five games since Ruben Amorim took over in late November.

Former Burnley striker Matej Vydra scored the opener for the home side just after half-time after a mix-up between Andre Onana and Matthijs de Ligt.

Rasmus Hojlund saved the day, coming off the bench to score a brace and send Man United into the top eight in the new Europa League league phase, meaning they would avoid a potentially tricky play-off if they maintain their position.

Hojlund and Diallo furiously confronted each other after the game, with both players seemingly upset about a failure to pass to each other.

Diallo has played as a right-wingback and as a number ten under the highly regarded Portuguese manager, providing five goal contributions under Amorim.

United’s 3-2 defeat to Nuno Espirito Santo’s impressive Nottingham Forest side leaves them in 13th going into the Manchester derby on Sunday (December 15), with 19 points from their 15 games.

Pep Guardiola’s side are vulnerable, however, winning just one of their last ten games across all competitions, including a 4-1 defeat to Amorim’s Sporting side.

The Ivory Coast international took to Instagram after the game, captioning his post: “A difficult field to play on, but winning was the best thing. We keep going.”

Diallo has started 13 of his 22 games across all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing six assists in 1225 minutes of action.

United have five games remaining in December alone, including a League Cup quarter-final against Ange Postecoglu’s unpredictable Tottenham side.
